The two pieces are sold together and match perfectly. The knitted rib is lined with a soft fleece inner, with no scratching on the forehead or the neck. The snood pulls up over the chin when the wind gets up and drops back down to a collar as soon as you are indoors. The lining cuts out the cold while keeping a slim profile under a hood, which makes it as useful day to day as on a trip to the mountains.
The outer is a knitted rib, the inner lining is fleece. Hand wash in cold water or machine wash at 30°C in a wash bag on a delicate programme. No bleach, no tumble drying. Dry flat so the knit does not go slack, out of direct sunlight. A light brush of the lining once dry brings all its loft back. Stored flat rather than hung, the beanie and the snood keep their stretch season after season.
